I love the 2-3 months after Christmas. It always comes with great opportunities for acquiring new nail polish. Target is my number one place to score drugstore brand polishes and this year has not disappointed! I’ve picked up a ton of great polishes for very little investment. I’m leaning more and more towards creme polishes lately and I feel like I hit the jackpot! The first of my pretties is the one featured in this post, Sonia Kashuk – On the Hunt.
It looked to me like Target would no longer be carrying any Sonia Kashuk nail polish – it was all cleared out and there was no longer a spot for it with the other SK cosmetics. I’m pretty disappointed, because I generally love their cremes – and finding them at super discounted prices! I grabbed one of every color they had left (which I believe is most of the 2014 fall line).
On the Hunt is a very dark hunter green. It leans more toward the yellow spectrum than blue. It’s very dark, and in dim lighting it might as well be black.
On the Hunt has a wonderful formula and was completely opaque in two easy coats. Even though it is super dark, I didn’t have any problems with cuticle staining during cleanup.
Since I hardly ever leave a solid color on my nails without doing some kind of nail art, I decided to use my new Bundle Monster XL plates to stamp a baroque vine pattern on all of my nails. I used black to stamp with and it made the polish appear even darker than before for a vampy feel. It is at this point that I questioned my judgment about stamping in black, LOL.
My first choice for stamping was gold, because I think this green and gold would look awesome together. However, I didn’t want it to look too much like Christmas. I should have gone with a shimmery M Polish instead!
- Essie – Grow Stronger Base Coat
- Sonia Kashuk – On The Hunt
- Sinful Colors – Black on Black
- Seche Vite – Dry Fast Top Coat
Lesson learned! The stamping looks pretty, but the colors just don’t work for me so this ended up being a fail, but I still really love this green!
