Yeah, so I wanted to do the @pushyourmani December challenge, but my plans went awry when I got sick. So this mani is all about keeping up with the challenge and putting multiple prompts into one manicure – it ended up being a bit busy, but I really like how the Santa came out especially!
I started this off by painting the base colors on my nails. I used Finger Paints – Gesso (white) and Sally Hansen – Floaties (the peach base for my Santa). I used the thick, straight nail vinyls by Glam My Mani t create the red lines for the peppermints with China Glaze – Ruby Pumps. Once those red lines were fairly dry, I used a thin striping brush to add the silver stripes in OPI – This Crown Needs a Gown. Having the red already in place made it easy to keep my lines straight!
For the tree nail, I used regular clear tape to create the outline of the tree and painted it with Sinful Colors – Pine Away. Next, I grabbed my bottle of Crows Toes – Candied Brains Anyone!? and dabbed a bit of the glitter onto my palette. Using my smallest dotting tool, I placed the glitter onto the tree. I used my thin striper to create the silver starburst at the top of the tree and then finished the nail off with a coat of OPI – Pirouette My Whistle for the fine silver bling on the white.
Lastly was my Santa! Using Ruby Pumps once again, I swiped it across my nail at the top. Once that was dry, I used Gesso and my dotting tool to create the fur ruff of the hat. With my thin striping brush, I painted in the beard and mustache. I used a small amount of gray to add some shaded hair to the beard and the shape of the nose. I used Sinful Colors – Black on Black, Gesso and a medium dotting tool to create the eyes. Whew!
