I know I was supposed to be sticking to untrieds, but while thinking of things to do on my nails the other day, I remembered to check the list for January’s Push Your Mani challenge and say the prompt for the 9th was Whimsy. This is, of course, right up my alley and dived in! I just picked colors I like together without even thinking about whether or not they were untried. Oops.
I started out with simple base coats of Sonia Kashuk – Breakfast at Tiffany’s and OPI – My Vampire is Buff. I placed a coat of Seche Vite on them at this point to get them dry enough to start doing my art. On the index and pinky, I used a medium dotting tool and did a simple dot pattern using My Vampire is Buff.
On my middle and ring finger, is where I planned for the real whimsy to come in and I used my narrow detail brush to create the vine and various flowers in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Sinful Colors – Energetic Red and Barielle – Nostalgia. When I had finished my painting, I sealed it with one more coat of Seche Vite and then a coat of NYC – Matte me Crazy for the matte effect.
- Sally Hansen Nail Nutrition – Green Tea + Bamboo Strength
- Sonia Kashuk – Breakfast at Tiffany’s
- OPI – My Vampire is Buff
- Sinful Colors – Energetic Red
- Barielle – Nostalgia
- Seche Vite – Dry Fast Top Coat
- NYC – Matte Me Crazy Top Coat
I’m pleased with how these came out. They are really “me” colors and the design is just the kind of cutesy artsy style that I love. I’m also addicted to matte top coat right now – part of that is because I love how my nail pictures turn out when matted. Next mani will be shiny though!
