Now that the awkward “I’m here” post is out of the way, I am ready to dive right in. I’ve been doing #nailartsep challenge by Californails this month – I’ve seen people doing these challenges in the past, of course, but this is the first time I have participated! The great thing about these challenges is that it forces you to get creative and, if you are a novice like me, introduces you to new techniques and styles that you may not have thought about previously. Luckily, this one also coincided with my BHB Thursday challenge, so two birds, one mani.
Day 16 was Quatrefoil, a technique I had never tried before and was pretty intimidated by. The inspiration for the color scheme came from a box of Puffs tissue I bought late last week – it’s a total “fall” scheme so I went with it. I watched a number of different tutorials on Youtube, but the most helpful to me were the ones by Christabellnails – they broke down the design into manageable pieces and I stuck pretty close to that although I used more colors.
See that one quatrefoil nail? It took me a LONG time! So long that I ran out of time to do much of anything else. I pulled out my trusty stamper and quickly stamped the rest of my nails and embellished the leaves with a bit of red to finish it off.
