Month of Untrieds: Butter London – Full Steam Ahead, stamped

For Christmas, my lovely husband and daughter gave me the Steampunk Ball set from Butter London. It contains 6 mini polishes, including several that are set exclusives. I love all the polishes, but this is the first time I used one in a manicure.

Full Steam Ahead is a gorgeous cool toned dark gray. I cannot say enough good things about this polish. The formula is perfect (opaque in 2 coats) and I love how it looks with my skin tone. My only problem with this polish is that the bottle is a mini and it isn’t part of the regular Butter London collection, so the only way to get it is in the set.

Obviously I am a sad panda about this because I love, LOVE this polish.

I wish I had taken a picture before I did art so I could show it off, but I also loved how the end-result turned out, so I will just have to cope!

After applying two coats of Ful lSteam Ahead, I applied a coat of Seche Vite. Once that was dry, I stamped white floral pattern on top with Funky Fingers – Gesso. Then, with a small dotting tool, I colored in the flowers with Sinful Colors – Cool Gray and Sinful colors – Energetic Red. I also added a few smaller dots of China Glaze – Re-Fresh Mint. I love how these colors work together!

  • ORLY – Nailtrition
  • Butter London – San Vicente
  • Funky Fingers – Gesso
  • Sinful Colors – Cool Gray
  • Sinful Colors – Energetic Red
  • China Glaze – Re-Fresh Mint
  • Seche Vite – Dry Fast Top Coat
  • Cici & Sisi 19

I like how much the additional dotting spruced up this stamping work and gives it a more hand-painted feel. It was really easy to do!

Because of my love for Full Steam Ahead, I went on a bit of a hunt to see if I could find something similar and never really did find anything close enough to make me happy, so I ended up making a frankenpolish that is extremely close. I’ll have to wear it soon to show it off!
