My theme this week for my Mommy’s mani group was Floral – aside from dots, one of my very favorite things to do. I took the opportunity to get some freehand practice in. I was originally planning a springy theme, but when everything came together and I had picked my colors, it was decidedly summery looking.
I started off this mani by painting two coats of Sally Hansen – Coral Reef on my pointer and pinky fingers and Barielle – Going to the Chapel on my middle and ring fingers. I put on a coat of Seche Vite and allowed it to dry completely.
I’ve done manis like this before and I wanted to try to set this one apart a little bit. Instead of my usual dot pattern, I did little random triple dots on the coral-colored nails with Going to the Chapel and a small dotting tool. Once those nails were done, I got to work on painting my floral accent nails.
For the flowers and leaves painting, I used Sally Hansen – Coral Reef, Sally Hansen – Sun Kissed, Sally Hansen – Mellow Yellow and Funky Fingers – Bizerk Turq. Using a fine liner brush I created the stems and leaves. All of the other floral elements and the butterfly were doing using various sizes of dotting tools.
I didn’t start with any set plan, but placing the stems and greenery gave me a basic guide to where I would put flowers and other elements. The rest is just doodling with nail art tools and trying different styles and best of all – having fun!
Once I was done with the flowers I coated everything with Seche Vite and allowed it to dry completely. I wanted these to be matte, so I used the Fresh Paint matte top coat. Not sure if I like it very much, it was very thick and hard to get smooth, though the final effect looked quite nice!
- Essie – Grow Stronger Base Coat
- Barielle – Going to the Chapel
- Sally Hansen – Coral Reef
- Sally Hansen – Sun Kissed
- Sally Hansen – Mellow Yellow
- Funky Fingers – Bizerk Turq
- Seche Vite – Dry Fast Top Coat
- Fresh Paint – Matte Top Coat
Overall – absolutely thrill with how these came out. The floral nails just came together and I really ended up liking the nails with the triple dots on them, since it was a bit out of the ordinary!
