I was so busy doing my swatching posts that I completely forgot to update with my manicures along the way! The prompt for my #mommysmanimonday group a couple of weeks ago was Matte & Shiny. I had big plans for this mani. Huge!
But in the end I ran out of time and had to do something simple! I had just gotten Zoya – Margo in the mail, so I decided to pair it with Color Club – Nail-robi in a gradient. I painted on one coat of Margo and allowed it to dry. Then, I used a non-latex makeup sponge and sponged on the gradient. These are both fairly opaque polishes, so this only took two passes per nail. I applied one coat of Seche Vite to blend the colors and aid in drying time.
As a brief aside. I absolutely adore how this gradient turned out. It was smooth and perfect and I actually hated to do anything to it at all – but I was going for the prompt, so I decided, once again, to keep it super simple. I used some lightning bolt nail vinyls and applied them at an angle toward the tip of each nail. Then, I applied my matte top coat on the tip.

POLISHES:
- Essie – Grow Stronger Base Coat
- Zoya – Margo
- Color Club Nail-robi
- Seche Vite – Dry Fast Top Coat
- NYC – Matte Me Crazy Top Coat
I got a number of comments that these look like mountains – wasn’t my intention, but I can totally see it now! I’ll be doing this gradient again, for sure. The colors just blended together so well – I am actually really glad that my big. big plans for this mani got thrown to the wayside!
