One of my recent finds at 5 Below were some new Fresh Paint polishes labeled as Semi-Matte. I, of course, bought all 4 just to try them out. I’ve really admired some of the matte stamping I have seen by @ineedamani and decided to try the technique out myself!
I started this manicure off with 2 coats of Fresh Paint – Enchanted. This is a very sheer polish and two was not enough to be opaque, but I wanted to get the first two coats dried before applying the final one so I went ahead and put on a coat of Seche Vite. Once this was very dry, I applied one more coat of Enchanted and allowed it to dry on its’ own so that the semi-matte finish of the polish could set up.
Once the top coat was completely dry to the touch, I stamped my design with Funky Fingers – Gesso using Born Pretty Store plate BP-L 003. Normally, I would top coat at this point, but I didn’t want to mess up the natural finish of my base polish so I went without topcoat.
- Essie – Grow Stronger Base Coat
- Fresh Paint – Enchanted
- Funky Fingers – Gesso
- BP – L 003
I love how delicate this mani turned out. While I do like the finish, I’m so impatient that I will probably never do this again, I will just slap on my quick dry top coat and then add a matte top coat at the end.
