Hello, lovelies! Today I have some great product from Londontown to review. I was aware of the brand, having read some reviews for them on some of my favorite blogs and I was really excited to try them out myself. I have four really nice creme polishes, a great fast-drying topcoat and an enigmatic bottle of Instant Smudge Fix (sounds like elven magic, right?) Read on to get my take on these brands and to get up more closely and personally than you ever needed to be to a smudged nail!
Londontown is a prestige brand of polish and nail treatments. All of their polishes are gluten-free, vegan and cruelty free as well as being 9-free. They do not contain Formaldehyde, Toluene, DBP, Formaldehyde resin, Camphor, Acetone, Xylene, Ethyl Tosylamide or Parabens.
Let’s dive right in with the colors. I was sent Cheerio, Earl Grey, Piccadilly Square and Chivvy Along. All of my swatches are shown with the kur Protective Top Coat.
Cheerio is a sheer peachy pink creme. I used three coats for my swatches, but one coat by itself gave my nails a nice, natural look. This would be a great polish for a French manicure. The formula was very smooth and easy to work with. I didn’t use a ridge-filler for these pics but didn’t have any problems with ridge-streaking on my ring finger nail.
Earl Grey is a blue-leaning medium gray (and my favorite kind of tea)! The first coat went on a little bit streaky, but the second coat leveled out nicely and was fully opaque. I absolutely love this kind of color. It is sophisticated and could definitely be work appropriate. I wore this one for about three days and it wore beautifully with minimal tip wear and no chipping.
Piccadilly Square is an orange leaning red. In some light, it took on an almost coral cast. It is bright and an awesome non-neon option for Summer or for a night out. This one had a very nice application and was opaque in two coats.
Chivvy Along is an amazing, dark and vampy teal. I love this color! It’s one of those great dark colors that doesn’t just look black when worn, you still see the actual color. This had a great formula and although I was a bit worried about staining, the color left no pigment on my nails or skin when I removed it which is a huge plus for me!
As you can see from all of the picture, the Protective Top Coat is very glossy! It dries very quickly and is thick enough that it can be used over nail art without smearing as long as you are careful about application. Like the polishes, the top coat is also 9-free making this a very nice option for anyone worried about the chemicals – especially pregnant women. It also contains goodies like Chamomile, Cucumber extract, Vitamins A and E as well as Biotin to help strengthen and nurture your nails. I wore Earl Grey for 3 days and this topcoat protected it well.
Last but not least, I want to talk about the Instant Smudge Fix. It’s made to be used in a couple of different ways to help with fixing those little smudges and dents that would otherwise ruin a perfectly good mani. I decided to go hardcore in testing this and just put a bit fat fingerprint right on my nail – a bit of a surreal experience because it made me cringe to do it lol. I’ll let my side-by-side comparison do the talking:
The magic is real! You can see in the after that the deep imprint is gone. You can see some brush strokes in the polish, but to the naked eye they weren’t even visible and adding in the protective top coat made the polish look absolutely perfect once again. Check out my swatches above again – this is my ring finger nail. Needless to say, I was really impressed that this lived up to Londontowns claims.
Overall, I am really impressed with these products. The polishes all had nice finishes and I really liked all of the colors. The formulas were all very good and went on smoothly without pooling and aside from Cheerio (which was not mean to be) they were completely opaque in two coats. Earl Grey and Chivvy Along were the big winners for me as far as color goes, I can see me wearing both quite a bit.
All of these products can be purchased on the LondontownUSA website. Let me know in the comments what you think of these products (if you’ve used them before!) and whether you think the Instant Smudge Fix is as magical as I do. 🙂
