Envy Lacquer – Rock Candy Collection – Brights Trio: Swatch and Review

press_sample

Hello lovelies! This weekend I received swatch mail (possibly the best kind of nail mail) from Envy Lacquer and today I will be sharing up my swatches and review of the Brights Trio, part of the Rock Candy Collection that is on pre-sale now in the Envy Lacquer shop!

The Rock Candy Collection consists of six different polishes – three neutrals and three bright shades. I was sent the bright shades to swatch and review! While I am totally a neutral type of girl, it is kind of exciting to try on polishes I would probably never buy for myself and much to my chagrin, I really feel like I need two of these in larger sizes now. So lets start out with a quick shot of the trio together:

Aren’t they pretty? Here’s the thing though, the concentration of the polish in the bottle makes these look darker than they are when worn. They are all jelly polishes with scattered holographic glitter and larger holographic flakie bits. Instant jelly sandwich on the nail!

Blueberry Blizzard is a teal-blue based jelly. It looks fairly blue in the shade, but in most other lighting is definitely teal-leaning. This one isn’t as bright as it’s mates in this trio, but the color is definitely rich and eye-catching. The formula on this was very nice. I used 3 very thin coats and topped it with one coat of Seche Vite. Even with three coats, the layers are so thin, that it doesn’t feel bulky or thick.

Zapped Apple is an electric apple green jelly – it is almost neon caliber in the brightness department, especially out in the sun. The formula on this one was really good, but it was a bit more sheer than the others. I used three coats and topped it with Seche Vite.

Razzmatazz is a vibrant magenta leaning purple jelly. The formula on this one was great, like the others and more opaque! This is three coats, topped with Seche Vite. Please note that these pictures are not as true to color as I would have liked. My camera was having fits with this color (it kept trying to photograph as a brighter magenta color) and I had to go through a bit of a fight with it to get this close. In life, the color is just a shade more purple. The sun shot was a lost cause, it insisted on being a bright magenta.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by this collection. All three of these polishes dry very fast, which is simply fabulous, since they are jellies and require multiple coats. Even with three coats and Seche on top, the polish didn’t look or feel thick on my nails, and you can see that in the tip shots. This is a huge deal for me. I hate when a sheer or jelly polish is super thick and ends up making your nails look bulky.

When I first saw the bottles, I knew I would love Blueberry Blizzard, since I absolutely love teals, but I was really pleasantly surprised at how much I loved Razzmatazz – definitely my overall favorite of the trio.

The Rock Candy Collection is on pre-sale now through Wednesday at the Envy Lacquer store and aside from these lovelies, there are another three polishes in neutral shades (and yes, I am ready to lemming for those sight unseen at this point). The official release is August first! The trios retail for $25.00 but if you are after just one or two colors, individual bottles will be available after the official release and will retail for $9.99 for the full sizes 15mL bottle.

Predictably Razzmatazz is my favourite because it is in my colour palette…but I really did not expect to like Zapped Apple as much as I do!

This is a new-to-me brand but Razzmatazz is beautiful! I agree with you, then pink and teal are the standouts of this trio.

All really pretty, even the green, and I’m not normally a green polish person x

Razzmatazz is my favorite too! I tend to lean more towards aquas and teals but Razzmatazz is calling my name!!! Great swatches and I love a nice, thin, jelly too!

These are really pretty! I’m not usually a fan of the shredded type glitter, but I could get on board with these.

Those holo flakes are amazing! I’m assuming that they dry flat rather than bumpy like glitter. That is awesome.

Unfamiliar with this brand. Gorgeous colours! Thank you for the pic heavy post! Does this dry gritty even with the top coat? I am mad about textures and cannot tolerate that sandpapery feel of some brands. I have to stick to the ones with the “built-in” glitter as opposed to the sticking out chunks, if that makes sense? All help appreciated! Thanks!
