You may or may not have noticed that I went on hiatus for the summer. Sorry about the lack of notice – it wasn’t something I had planned on, but between my daughter being home for summer break and adopting a new puppy to house train, play with and cuddle, I decided to put my nails on the back burner.
I’m not ready to let go of Fall yet. It is my favorite time of the year and fall colors generally fall into my spectrum of favorites. It should come as no surprise that when I was getting ready to do my nails, I automatically reached for a dark brown color.
Advanced stamping is one of those techniques that I have been in awe of for years, but for multiple reasons I had not managed to conquer it. My main problem was that I was trying to place dried decals on my nails and could never get them to lay down nicely because my nails curve quite a bit from side-to-side as well as front-to-back. I finally found the way to do it that works best for me and I am super pleased with the results!
It’s been a long time coming for an update and it’s a post I meant to do weeks ago. I strained my right wrist at the end of October that put a moratorium on general activities like typing, cleaning and worst of all, nail-related activities. I’m completely mended now, thankfully, so I want to start off with playing catch-up – I know most people are ready to be over Halloween, so bear with me 🙂
I’m a big fan of Butter London – they are pretty much my favorite brand for polish! When I saw the Invite Only set at my local Ulta, I was immediately in love with the selection of colors and finishes. This review is brought to you by the enabling of my husband, who talked me into getting it!
That is correct, this is round up 1 of probably 2-3 because I plan on continuing to do a ton of Halloween and fall-themed nail designs for October. I’m following three different challenges and while I probably will not get all of those prompts done, it gives me a lot of options to choose from.
I’d been keeping a lookout for the new Sinful Colors Halloween offerings for a couple of weeks and finally found these at a local Walgreens. As far as I know, these are all new polishes (with the exception of Glow In the Dark, which they re-release ever year). Fall is the time of year I have to make extra special efforts to not buy every new polish collection. This is my favorite time to year and it seems like every brand is putting out super beautiful polishes. The Fall 2016 release from Zoya, Focus & Flair, had some really beautiful polishes. While I am usually more attracted to creme polishes, I really like the metallics this time. There was only one, however, that I simply had to have: Cinnamon.
Here we are, right at the beginning of summer and I am already soulfully longing for the cooler days of fall – along with the earthier color tones. Best I can do is bring fall to my nails a few months early!
This weeks threadly challenge on the BHB was to use an ugly polish and try to redeem it via nail art. I thought I had the perfect polish to use, but when I actually applied it, I fell in love. Seriously, I don’t think there is a color out there I don’t like.
